Noida Airport deploys low-emission furniture at scale

Noida International Airport has emerged among the first airports in India to deploy low-emission certified furniture across terminals and back-office areas, marking a shift towards sustainable fit-outs in infrastructure projects.

AFC Furniture Solutions installed over 6,000 furniture systems across nearly 1,00,000 sq m, including public seating, lounge systems, modular workstations and control desks. The installations are made using low-emission materials, with workstations that are 66 per cent recyclable and designed with reduced carbon footprint metrics.

The initiative aligns with the airport’s broader goal of achieving net-zero operations, integrating sustainability beyond core building design into interior systems and operational infrastructure. The deployment is designed to support high passenger volumes—estimated at 12 million annually—while maintaining efficiency and environmental performance.

Commenting on the project, Maanoj Tomar, Founder, AFC Furniture Solutions, said, “The Jewar airport is not just a project of scale, but one of intent… the low-emission furniture contributes significantly to reducing emissions and aligns with stringent sustainability benchmarks.”

He added, “This project reinforces that net-zero infrastructure demands net-zero thinking at every touchpoint, including the furniture.”

Designed by a global consortium including Nordic, Grimshaw, Haptic and STUP, the airport integrates local architectural influences with advanced engineering, reflecting a growing focus on sustainable, high-performance infrastructure in India.
