Sogane airport construction to be completed by 2022 end: Yediyurappa

Former Karnataka CM B S Yediyurappa told the media that the airport construction at Sogane near Shivamogga would be completed by December this year.

On 18 April 2022, CM, his son, Lok Sabha member B Y Raghavendra and officials inspected the construction progress of the runway, passenger terminal and other infrastructure at the proposed airport.

Yediyurappa said it would be the second-best airport in Karnataka after Bengaluru international airport. It will have all the necessary facilities to offer quality services to air passengers.

According to the engineers, the air traffic control (ATC) tower would be ready by June and said that the other work would be completed by December 2022. The Karnataka government has taken up the construction project of the airport at an estimated cost of Rs 384 crores.

Former CM suggested to Raghavendra to request CM Basavaraj Bommai to visit the place and inspect the progress of construction work.

CM Basavaraj Bommai is on a three-day visit to Shivamogga from 19 April, during which he will participate in a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) party meeting in the city.
