The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given in-principle approval to allocate three point three four acres of land from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Mangalagiri for construction of the E-13 Road Extension Corridor that will link the road to NH-16. The ministry described the decision as taken in the public interest and instructed district authorities to expedite formalities. Officials indicated that the move is part of coordinated efforts between the Centre, the State government and the district administration to resolve land requirements for the project. The ministry has directed the district administration to hand over 10 acres of alternative land to AIIMS Mangalagiri in lieu of the land being allocated for the corridor and to notify the ministry after the transfer is completed. It has also asked officials to coordinate with concerned departments to finalise pending demarcation and handover of six point zero four acres out of approximately 183 acres allotted by the State government to AIIMS Mangalagiri. Administrative sources conveyed that the instructions are intended to ensure continuity of the institute’s development while enabling the road project to proceed. Union Minister of State for Rural Development Pemmasani Chandrasekhar said the Centre, State and district bodies were working in coordination to address land-related issues for the connectivity scheme. He emphasised that completing the connecting link would significantly improve road connectivity across the Mangalagiri-Guntur region, offering faster transportation and enhanced infrastructure for the public. Authorities added that efforts would continue to resolve outstanding matters in the public interest. Project planners anticipate that resolving land transfers and demarcation will enable timely progression of construction and related approvals, while officials will monitor compliance with the ministry’s directions. The district administration was instructed to maintain regular communication with the ministry and submit confirmations upon completion of handovers and demarcation work. The coordinated approach reflects an administrative attempt to balance institutional land needs with regional infrastructure priorities.
