Gadkari inaugurates 4-deck flyover in Ahmednagar

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the 3-km-long, four-deck flyover in Ahmednagar, built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), on Sunday.

Gadkari said with the greenfield expressway constructed from Mumbai to Delhi, Ahmednagar will be on the map of the country in the future. Of the greenfield expressway to Chennai from Surat-Nashik-Nagar-Solapur, 141 km is in Ahmednagar district.

The project is worth Rs 800 billion. It is now possible to set up logistics parks wherever possible in the district, which will boost the development of the district. “We are building this highway with Axis Control. At present, its length is 1,600 km. Mumbai-Pune, along with Thane, Kolhapur, and Solapur, will also have reduced traffic, distances, and pollution,” Gadkari said.

New Pune-Aurangabad highway work will be done in the coming period. A 56-km highway will be made between Ramwadi-Wagholi and Shirur to avoid heavy traffic congestion on the existing Pune-Ahmednagar route between Wagholi, Shikrapur, Ranjangaon MIDC and Shirur, he said.
