Lord’s Mark Wins NHAI Solar Lighting Mandate in Vijayawada

Lord’s Mark Industries Limited has secured a mandate from the National Highways Authority of India for the implementation of solar highway lighting across 104 accident-prone and blackspot locations in the Vijayawada region. The project forms part of Phase 1 of a broader national road safety programme identified by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

The mandate was awarded through a competitive commercial bidding process, under which Lord’s Mark Industries, in partnership with Signify Innovations India Limited (formerly Philips Lighting India), emerged as the successful bidder. The scope includes survey, design, manufacturing and end-to-end implementation of the solar lighting systems.

The project is positioned as a technology-led road safety intervention, using a data-driven methodology that integrates accident analytics, visibility diagnostics and intelligent solar lighting design. The solution aims to address structural safety gaps at blackspots by improving critical visibility parameters such as glare control, contrast perception, approach angles and driver reaction zones, with the objective of delivering measurable improvements in highway safety.

The mandate covers key national highway stretches in the Vijayawada region, including sections of NH-16 and NH-216. These include the Anakapalli–Annavaram–Diwancheruvu stretch on NH-16, the Diwancheruvu–Siddhantham–Gundugolanu section on NH-216, the Gundugolanu–Devarapalli–Kovvuru stretch on NH-16, and the Kathipudi to Kakinada Bypass section on NH-216.

According to the company, the Vijayawada project represents Phase 1 of a larger pan-India programme proposed to be executed over a four-year period across national highways in multiple states.

Commenting on the development, Sachidanand Upadhyay, managing director of Lord’s Mark Industries Limited, said the mandate validates the company’s data-driven approach and execution capabilities. He added that the project marks a strategic milestone and aligns with the company’s focus on public infrastructure, sustainable solutions and technology-enabled road safety systems, delivered in partnership with Signify Innovations India Limited.
