NHAI, GMDA Clash Over Bajghera Underpass Flooding Issues

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) are engaged in a conflict regarding the Bajghera underpass in Gurugram, with both agencies pointing fingers over persistent flooding and inadequate drainage.

The underpass, part of a key infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion, has been plagued by waterlogging problems, particularly during the monsoon season. This has led to frequent disruptions and safety concerns for commuters. The flooding has not only caused inconvenience but also raised questions about the effectiveness of the drainage systems designed for the underpass.

NHAI has criticised GMDA for failing to maintain the drainage infrastructure adequately, arguing that the GMDA should have addressed the problem earlier. On the other hand, GMDA officials have claimed that the drainage issues are a result of design flaws and inadequate construction practices by NHAI.

The disagreement has led to a blame game between the two agencies, with both sides accusing each other of neglect and mismanagement. As a result, there have been calls from local residents and stakeholders for a swift resolution to the issue.

To address the situation, both NHAI and GMDA are reportedly working together to find a viable solution. They are considering various options, including upgrading the drainage system and implementing better water management practices to prevent future flooding.

The resolution of this conflict is crucial for ensuring the smooth functioning of the Bajghera underpass and improving the overall infrastructure quality in Gurugram.
