NHAI Raises Tolls Between Lucknow And Kanpur

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has raised toll charges on the newly opened Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway (NE-6) and the existing Lucknow-Kanpur Highway (NH-27), making road travel between the two cities costlier. The move follows the recent opening of the 63 km Greenfield NE-6, and the revised rates eliminate a previously lower-cost alternative for commuters. NHAI said the changes apply to a range of vehicle classes and to short-distance travel on the expressway.

Under the new schedule motorists in cars, jeeps and vans will pay Rs 285 for a one-way trip on the expressway, up from Rs 275, while the same-day return fare has risen to Rs 425 from Rs 415. The monthly pass for fifty single journeys has been increased to Rs 9,450 from Rs 9,220. Light commercial vehicles and minibuses will now incur a Rs 460 charge instead of Rs 445, and tolls for buses and two-axle trucks have been revised to Rs 960 from Rs 935.

Three-axle commercial vehicles will be charged Rs 1,045, up from Rs 1,020, and heavy vehicles with four to six axles will pay Rs 1,505 instead of Rs 1,470, while oversized vehicles with seven or more axles will face a fee of Rs 1,830, up from Rs 1,795. NHAI has also adjusted tolls for travellers making shorter journeys on the expressway, applying proportionate increases across relevant toll slabs. Higher tolls will affect operator costs and route choices.

At the Nawabganj Toll Plaza on NH-27 charges for cars, jeeps and vans have been raised to Rs 100 one-way from Rs 95, with the same-day return fare increasing to Rs 150 from Rs 145. The monthly pass for fifty journeys on the highway has been revised to Rs 3,350 from about Rs 3,180. Light commercial vehicles and minibuses will now pay Rs 160 instead of Rs 155, buses and two-axle trucks Rs 340 instead of Rs 325, and three-axle vehicles Rs 370, up from Rs 360, while heavy four to six axle vehicles and oversized categories have also seen higher rates.
