Odisha government raps NHAI for poor road upkeep

The State Government of Orissa has asked the regional office of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to fix the road problems without delay after witnessing more road accidents in Mayurbhanj district and Dwarsuni ghat on NH-49 taking more lives.

Bishnupada Sethi has reportedly written to the Chief General Manager of the NHAI regional office expressing his displeasure over the callousness and negligence to the safety measures and maintenance of the roads.

Mayurbhanj district is one of the vulnerable districts where 540 accidents have occurred in 2021 in which 312 people have died. Dwarsuni ghat is a hazardous spot in the district on which two-thirds of accidents occur every month.
