Rajasthan govt allots Rs 1,000 cr for repairing roads in Jaipur

The Rajasthan government has allocated a special fund of Rs 1,000 crore to repair roads in Jaipur city limits across the state.

The work will begin soon in 213 urban local bodies, following the chief minister's announcement in the budget for the financial year 2021-2022. The work will be done by the Public Works Department(PWD) instead of civic bodies.

The order for the same was issued on September 10, according to a DLB official. After the PWD department has approved the administrative and financial aspects of the project, tenders will be invited to begin work.

Jaipur's municipal corporations (Greater and Heritage) have each been given Rs 12.41 crore and Rs 15.93 crore, respectively. Due to the fact that a whopping Rs 50 crore has been allocated for road repairs, Jodhpur receives the bulk of the budget.

The municipal corporation of Jodhpur north will spend Rs 27.40 crore, while the municipal corporation of Jodhpur south will spend Rs 22.06 crore. The allocation of funds in Kota was also higher than in the state capital. In Kota North and South, respectively, Rs 18.81 crore and Rs 26.98 crore have been set aside.

According to an official, the funds were allocated after the municipal bodies submitted their proposals. Even though the size of a few corporations is relatively small, more funds are required because roads are in poor condition.
