RRR, HAM Roads Get Big Boost in New Budget Infra Proposals

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy directed officials to prepare focused and outcome-based Budget estimates for 2026 to 2027, saying the department plays a decisive role in accelerating Telangana's growth trajectory. He reviewed last year's allocations and the progress of various works at the Secretariat and emphasised that clear planning and financial discipline must guide the upcoming annual budget. Officials were asked to align proposals with measurable outcomes and prioritise projects that can transform regional connectivity.

He called for prioritising game changer infrastructure projects, particularly the Regional Ring Road (RRR), in alignment with the state's long-term development roadmap. He noted that the government intends to construct high-quality roads across Telangana under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) and urged officials to overcome existing bottlenecks through coordinated efforts. This was presented as essential to streamline execution and enhance value for public investment.

On national highway projects he announced that the eight-lane expansion of the Hyderabad to Vijayawada stretch of National Highway 65 is set to commence shortly. He indicated he would again appeal to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to expedite the project, which is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities to about two and a half hours. He added that coordination with central authorities would be pursued to secure timely clearances and funding.

Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj assured that the department would prepare structured and realistic budget proposals as advised by the minister. He committed to close coordination with implementing agencies to ensure timely execution of works and adherence to financial discipline. The plan is intended to channel resources towards projects with clear performance indicators.

The emphasis on outcome-driven planning and financial discipline aims to accelerate infrastructure growth across Telangana. Successful delivery of the Regional Ring Road and Hybrid Annuity Model projects would be central to that objective.
