21 stations in Telangana undergo transformation in Amrit Bharat Scheme
The chosen stations for this transformative endeavour encompass Adilabad, Basara, Begumpet, Bhadrachalam Road, Gadwal, Hafizpet, Hi-Tech City, Uppuguda, Hyderabad (Nampally), Jadcherla, Jangaon, Kachiguda, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Kazipet Junction, Khammam, Lingapally, Madhira, Mahabubabad, Mahbubnagar, Malakpet, Malkajgiri, Mancherial, Medchal, Miryalguda, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Ramagundam, Secunderabad, Shadnagar, Sri Bala Brahmeswara Jogulamba, Tandoor, Umdanagar, Vikarabad, Warangal, Yadadri, Yakutpura, and Zaheerabad.
Out of these stations, Hyderabad railway station commands the lion's share of Rs 3.09 million (accounting for 54 per cent) for an all-encompassing overhaul, trailed by Nizamabad (Rs 533 million), Kamareddy (Rs 399 million), Mahbubnagar (Rs 399 million), and Mahabubabad (Rs 397 million).
This initiative finds its roots in the 'Amrit Bharat Stations' program, a nationwide endeavour initiated by the central government to elevate station capacity and modernise railway amenities to cater to the evolving demands of passengers. In Telangana, a grand total of 39 stations have been singled out for upliftment under this scheme. The first phase, comprising the development of 21 stations in Telangana, inaugurated on August 6, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This project stands as a significant leap toward furnishing improved services and conveniences to railway passengers within the state.
