78% Completion of 1506 km Western DFC, 1176 km Operational

The Rail Minister provided a substantial update in the Rajya Sabha, revealing that 78% of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) has been completed, with 1176 km out of the total 1506 km now operational. The Western DFC is a critical infrastructure project designed to enhance freight transportation efficiency across the western region of the country.

This achievement underscores the significant strides made in the construction of the dedicated freight corridor, a project vital for bolstering the country's logistical capabilities. The operational stretch of 1176 km is expected to facilitate smoother freight movement, reduce transit times, and contribute to the overall economic development of the regions connected by the corridor.

The Western DFC is part of the ambitious Dedicated Freight Corridor Project of Indian Railways, aimed at decongesting existing railway lines and optimizing freight movement. The completion of this substantial portion of the corridor is a testament to the focused efforts and strategic planning employed in its execution.

The Rail Minister expressed confidence in the timely completion of the remaining segments of the Western DFC, emphasising the positive impact it will have on the transportation and logistics landscape. The project's advancement aligns with the broader vision of modernizing railway infrastructure to meet the evolving demands of freight transportation in the country.
