Belagavi MP pushes for rail project progress, new routes in SWR Meeting

Belagavi's Member of Parliament, Mangala Angadi, recently held a meeting with Sanjeev Kishore, the General Manager of South Western Railway (SWR), to expedite the implementation of the Belagavi-Kittur-Dharwad railway line project. This railway project, spanning a distance of 73 kilometres, received approval from the central government in 2019, along with a budget allocation of Rs 9.74 billion.

However, despite the initial approval and fund allocation, the project has faced delays over the past four years. MP Mangala Angadi has urged the authorities to conduct a comprehensive land survey for the purpose of land acquisition between Kittur and Belagavi, with the aim of advancing the project.

The construction delay of the railway bridge at level crossing no. 281 in Tilakwadi has inconvenienced motorists significantly. In light of this issue, MP Mangala Angadi has called upon the authorities to promptly resume the halted construction work.

Recognising the importance of enabling easier travel for devotees from North Karnataka to Pandharpur, MP Mangala Angadi has proposed the introduction of a direct train connection from Belagavi to Pandharpur. Furthermore, she has also requested the establishment of train services connecting Belagavi to Pune and Chennai. In response, GM Kishore has provided assurance to MP Mangala Angadi that these requests will be given due consideration.
