Bengaluru Metro Expansion to Reach 175 km by 2026

Bengaluru is set to expand its metro network, with the total length of the metro train service expected to reach 175 kilometers by 2026. According to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, the ongoing metro expansion project will provide significant relief to the city's traffic congestion and improve public transportation.

The extension of the metro line is part of the city’s efforts to enhance its infrastructure and reduce reliance on road transport. This ambitious project will improve connectivity across various parts of the city, facilitating smoother commutes for millions of daily travelers. The expansion will also contribute to environmental sustainability by promoting eco-friendly modes of transport.

Implementation Status of Jal Jeevan Mission

Since August 2019 the Government has implemented Jal Jeevan Mission to provide assured potable water through household tap connections in rural India. At the start of the mission only 32.3 million (mn) rural households, representing 16.7 per cent, were reported to have tap water connections. States and union territories have reported that 125.8 mn additional rural households have since been provided with tap connections. Empowering Local Governance for Sustainable Rural Water Supply

The Ministry of Jal Shakti has aligned the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) with the 73rd Amendment to strengthen village level planning and community ownership of water supply.
