Bengaluru rail to build Rs 2.7-bn depot for VB coaches

The announcement was made by Parikshit Mohanpuria, Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Bengaluru Railway Division, stating that a new depot-cum-workshop costing Rs 2.7 billion would be constructed near the Thanisandra railway station to maintain sleeper coaches of Vande Bharat. He mentioned that the coaches had been inspected by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at a Bharat Earth Movers facility on the preceding Saturday.

During a briefing to reporters at the DRM office, Mohanpuria stated, The Railway Board has granted approval for the project. Currently, we are in the process of conducting a survey for the workshop. We anticipate the arrival of the coaches for maintenance by the year's end and aim to have the workshop prepared by then. The foundation stone for the development of trains in this area is scheduled to be virtually laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 12.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Mysuru-MGR Chennai-Mysuru Vande Bharat Express (Train no. 20663/20664) and the Kalaburagi-SMVT Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Vande Bharat Express (Train no 22231/22232), along with eight other VB trains across India. Additionally, the redeveloped goods shed at Penukonda, equipped with enhanced infrastructure, will be dedicated to the nation, along with a Gati Shakti Multimodal Cargo Terminal at Oddarahalli Near Doddaballapur.
