Bihar Flags Off 7 New Trains Including Amrit Bharat Express

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, inaugurated seven new trains in Bihar, including three Amrit Bharat Express services. With this launch, Bihar now operates 26 of the 30 Amrit Bharat Express trains in the country, significantly improving connectivity with North and South India and offering passengers faster, safer, and more comfortable travel.

Highlights include the Muzaffarpur–Charlapalli Express, the first Amrit Bharat train linking Bihar to South India, and the Chhapra–Anand Vihar Express, the sixth connecting Bihar to Delhi. Developed by Indian Railways, these trains feature advanced technology, including semi-automatic couplers, fire detection systems, sealed gangways, and talk-back units in non-AC coaches, setting new benchmarks in passenger safety and comfort.

To strengthen local connectivity, four passenger trains were also flagged off: Patna–Buxar, Jhajha–Danapur, Nawada–Patna, and Patna–Islampur, serving daily commuters and enhancing convenience across the state.

Since 2014, Bihar has completed major infrastructure projects, including the Patna, Munger, and Kosi Rail-cum-Road Bridges, new lines, and gauge conversions. Key ongoing works include new lines on Sakri–Hasanpur, Khagaria–Kusheshwarsthan, and Chhapra–Muzaffarpur, as well as doubling and 3rd/4th line projects on major routes. Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail services further boost mobility in the state.

The new trains are expected to drive economic activity, tourism, trade, and employment, advancing the vision of “Viksit Bihar Se Viksit Bharat” and positioning Bihar as a key development hub.
