Central Railway issues tender for construction of FOBs

The Central Railway (CR) decided to build new footbridges to replace eight old ones along its suburban section. These include the well-known 'Z' FOB in Matunga. The majority of these FoBs have served their purpose.

Last week, a tender for the dismantling and reconstruction of these FOBs was issued, and it will be opened in the second week of September.

The new FOB will be ready within two years of the tendering process being completed, according to the plan. The total cost of dismantling and rebuilding these FOBs is estimated to be around Rs 4.05 billion, with the BMC funding the project.
