In February, CMR reveals impressive passenger numbers

In February 2023, Chennai Metro Rail (CMR) saw an increase in passenger traffic, with 63.69 lakh passengers recorded for the month. On February 10, when 2.61 lakh people used the metro, there was the most traffic. The average number of passengers using the Chennai metro on a daily basis was 2.13 lakh, up from 66.07 lakh in January. However, a rise in ridership was evident in February when the average daily number of passengers reached 2.27 lakh.

With a total of 20.20 lakh passengers using the QR code ticketing system in February alone, the system has been gaining popularity. During the same time, 39.85 lakh passengers utilized travel cards. Mobile QR code ticketing for single, return, group, and QR trip passes is discounted by 20 per cent at CMRL. Additionally, Metro travel cards provide discounts of 20 per cent on fares.
