L&T wins standard track contract of Bhopal Metro Phase 1

For the provision and construction of standard gauge rails for the underground, elevated, and Subhash Nagar Depot of Bhopal Metro Phase 1, Larsen & Toubro was chosen as the low bidder.

In February, the European Investment Bank (EIB)-financed Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MPMRCL) floated a tender for this contract, Package BH-07, with an undefined completion date of 1274 days (3.49 years).

Technical bids were opened in July, and 4 bidders were identified. Because RVNL and VNC's offers did not meet the tender's standards, they were turned down.

The work involves designing, providing, installing, testing, and commissioning standard gauge ballastless track as well as providing fastening systems for elevated and underground sections of the track as well as ballasted ballastless track in the depot for the Bhopal Metro Rail Project.

It is the fourth and last contract for a track in the 27.87 km Phase 1 project in Bhopal. Phase 1 of the Indore Metro has been combined with the previous 3.
