LMC accelerates waste transfer station construction in Lucknow

In an effort to strengthen the waste management infrastructure of the city, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has commenced the establishment of a waste transfer station in the Kesari Kheda and Ghaila area. This initiative is a crucial component of the city's dedication to the Swachh Bharat Mission, which aims to improve solid waste management practices.

Pankaj Srivastava, the additional municipal commissioner, spoke about the progress, stating, "The construction work by LMC is progressing rapidly. The waste transfer station will function as a vital center where solid waste from Zone-3 and Zone-5 will be temporarily held. This facility will play a key role in segregating wet and dry waste before it is transported to the processing plant at Shivri."

Providing operational details, Srivastava explained, "Approximately 100 metric tonnes of waste will undergo daily separation at the transfer station. Subsequently, the processed waste will be transported to the processing plant located at Shivri for further treatment." The responsibility for constructing the transfer station has been assigned to the TPS company, with a directive to complete the project promptly.

The construction progress is being closely monitored by additional municipal commissioner Pankaj Srivastava, environmental engineer Sanjeev Pradhan, and municipal commissioner Inderjeet Singh. This strategic move aligns with the city's commitment to adhere to the Solid Waste Rules-2016.
