MRVC Invites Bids For Electrification Work On Western Railway

The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation has invited bids for a contract to undertake electrification work on sections of the Western Railway network. The tender document outlines comprehensive scope covering installation of overhead line equipment, substations and auxiliary traction infrastructure to support increased traffic and energy efficient operations. The procurement has been issued as an open tender and seeks technical and commercial proposals from firms with proven capability in railway electrification projects. The authority has set out conformity requirements aligned with national standards and operational safety norms.

The scope described in the tender covers testing, commissioning and integration of new electrification assets with existing signalling and rolling stock interfaces. Contractors will be required to plan works in coordination with operations to minimise disruption to suburban and long distance services and to adhere to prescribed environmental and waste management practices. The tender emphasises life cycle performance and maintainability, and bidders must provide detailed maintenance and asset management strategies as part of their technical proposals.

Eligibility criteria require demonstrable experience in comparable traction electrification initiatives, qualified engineering personnel and appropriate plant and equipment. Financial capacity and past performance records will be assessed and bidders are expected to submit audited statements and project references. The bid evaluation process will prioritise technical compliance before commercial considerations and will include on site inspections and verification of credentials. Contract terms will incorporate penalties for non compliance and provisions for performance guarantees.

The corporation indicated that the electrification drive is intended to improve operational efficiency, reduce energy consumption and support network expansion plans. Local authorities and operational departments will coordinate to manage traffic and safety during works and to ensure timely completion while minimising inconvenience to passengers. Clarifications and addenda to the tender will be issued through the official procurement portal and interested firms are advised to consult that channel for authoritative information.
