Pongshi Phom Reviews Dimapur Railway Station And Airport Development

Advisor for Airways and Railways A Pongshi Phom visited Dimapur Railway Station and Dimapur Airport on 20 July to review the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects and to discuss issues requiring coordinated intervention for their development. The visit formed part of efforts to expedite modernisation and ensure interagency cooperation. He sought to understand on site challenges and to identify practical solutions.

Earlier he chaired a review meeting at Dimapur Railway Station on matters relating to the proposed Modern Railway Station under Phase I, reviewing construction progress and developmental activities. He was accompanied by the Additional Secretary, AIR Cell, Transport Department Thsuvisie Phoji NCS; the Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Dr Tinojongshi Chang NCS; the Officer on Special Duty M Ababe Ezung; railway officials and district administration representatives. The meeting took stock of issues requiring attention and agreed on follow up actions.

Later in the day he visited Dimapur Airport and held a review meeting with officials of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to assess the status of the airport's development and to deliberate on issues affecting its expansion. The Airport Director at Dimapur Airport Moa Pongen along with AAI and State Government officials presented a brief history of the airport and outlined the status of ongoing works. The advisor emphasised that, with Nagaland having only one airport, close collaboration between the State Government and AAI was required to address challenges and expedite development.

The meeting discussed land acquisition, waterlogging, garbage disposal, runway development and other measures needed for overall airport enhancement. Participants exchanged suggestions aimed at resolving pending land issues and meeting basic requirements for expansion while noting the need for improved coordination among departments. The advisor assured that concerns and suggestions would be examined and taken up with concerned authorities for necessary follow up.
