Work on the bridge parallel to Loha Pul in Delhi is nearing completion

The Old Yamuna Bridge, which has connected Delhi to the country's huge railway for 155 years, may be replaced in 2023.

After two decades of work, the new bridge, which is being built parallel to the old one and across the river by Northern Railway, is expected to be completed next year.

The Old Yamuna Bridge, also known as the 'Loha Pul,' has been the Railways' workhorse for over a century and a half, and despite being briefly closed virtually every year during monsoon when the river level rises, the bridge has stayed open for train and road traffic.
