Bangladesh's Unique Cement joins WCA

The World Cement Association (WCA) announced today that it is welcoming Unique Cement Industries Limited, a cement producer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, as a Corporate Member.

Unique Cement, a subsidiary of Meghna Group Industries, one of Bangladesh's largest and fastest-growing industrial conglomerates, was established in 2002. The company has 1,500 employees and began its journey with a 1,500 TPD cement grinding plant in Meghnaghat, Sonagaon. Over the years, it expanded its production capacity with additional lines in 2007, 2012, and 2019, bringing the total plant capacity to 5 MTPA.

Unique Cement sources raw materials from various countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, UAE, and India. It utilises modern Roller Press and Ball Mill technology from Germany, creatively configured to maximise flexibility while minimising power consumption.

Ian Riley, CEO of WCA, expressed his delight in welcoming one of Bangladesh's leading cement manufacturers to the association. He noted that the cement sector is the fastest-growing industry in Bangladesh and looks forward to learning from Unique Cement Industries Ltd about their technological innovations to enhance efficiency and profitability.
