AP Govt Rolls Out Rs 5.5 Billion Power Projects

To meet growing electricity needs across households, industries, and agriculture, the Andhra Pradesh government has launched development works worth Rs 5.5 billion across 68 locations under APTRANSCO, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar informed the Legislative Council on Tuesday.
The minister noted that these projects will help reduce network overload and low-voltage issues, as the state’s power consumption rises at 6–8 per cent annually. To meet future demand, construction has already begun on 14 new substations.
Currently, Andhra Pradesh has 18 substations of 400 kV, 113 substations of 220 kV, and 244 substations of 132 kV. Additionally, 63 new 33 kV substations are under construction. To ensure uninterrupted industrial supply, the IT, Industries, and Energy Departments are coordinating closely.
A Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Centre has been set up in Visakhapatnam to monitor the performance of around 110 substations, addressing power interruptions and ensuring operational efficiency.
