CG Power Wins Rs 6.4 Billion Transformer Order from PowerGrid

CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (CG), a prominent engineering conglomerate and leader in the electrical engineering industry, has secured its largest-ever order to date—worth approximately Rs 6.41 billion (around USD 74 million). The contract, awarded by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, pertains to the supply of 765/400 kV single-phase transformers under the 765kV Transformer Package 7TR-12-Bulk, as part of Lot-4 of the revised Corporate Package for 765kV and 400kV class transformers and reactors.

The scope of the order includes both the supply of goods and related services, to be fulfilled within 18 to 36 months. This significant win further strengthens CG’s leadership in the power transmission sector and reinforces its global credentials as a trusted manufacturer of critical electrical equipment.

With a legacy of more than 88 years, CG has consistently delivered innovative and reliable solutions across global markets. It is among the few companies worldwide with the capability to design, manufacture, and supply a complete range of both power and distribution transformers as well as reactors. CG’s offerings include power transformers ranging from 25 kVA to 1500 MVA and voltage classes between 11kV and 765kV, alongside reactors in the range of 10 MVAr to 125 MVAr and up to 765kV.

All CG products are manufactured to meet international standards including IEC, ANSI, IS, and BS, and are used across diverse applications in sectors such as power utilities, process industries, railways, mining, electricity boards, and large-scale industrial operations.

This milestone order is a testament to CG’s robust engineering capabilities, trusted partnerships, and its continued commitment to strengthening power infrastructure both in India and globally.

No glass boxes!

India is moving away from the ‘glass box’ syndrome, all-glass façades that were widely used in commercial buildings in the last two decades but came at a significant environmental cost given the country’s predominantly hot and humid climate. Poor thermal performance, excessive heat gain and dependency on mechanical cooling systems made buildings with glass façades energy guzzlers and significantly increased their carbon footprint. That said, it’s important to be aware that “glass is not the enemy,” points out Heena Bhargava, Architect, Architecture Discipline. “How it ..

Why do pavements fail?

India’s highways continue to expand at a healthy pace. But conversations on the surface quality of highways are growing louder because major deficiencies and black spots continue to be identified, and they are cause for concern.“Road surface roughness causes vehicle vibrations that, in turn, can affect the performance of drivers,” explains Dr V K Gahlot, Road Safety Auditor, Centre for Research and Sustainable Development (CfRSD). “Continuous exposure may induce fatigue, a contributory factor to road accidents. Road surface roughness also affects the vehicle operating cost...
