Hero Future Energies has secured a 120 megawatt (MW) project in the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s 1,000 MW firm and dispatchable renewable energy round-the-clock auction at a tariff of Rs five point two five per kilowatt-hour (kWh). The project will be developed by the group's subsidiary, Hero Solar Energy, and will be integrated with an energy storage system in line with the requirements of the SECI FDRE-RTC tender. It will be executed under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI and is expected to be commissioned within 24 months of PPA execution. SECI launched the auction in March 2026 to procure 1,000 MW of firm and dispatchable renewable power from interstate transmission system connected renewable projects integrated with energy storage. The award is intended to supply firm, round-the-clock renewable electricity by combining generation with storage to deliver a more reliable and dispatchable clean power supply. The project is also expected to support the integration of renewable energy into India's grid while meeting growing demand for reliable low-carbon electricity. The latest award builds on Hero Future Energies' prior work with SECI and strengthens the company's presence in India's emerging FDRE and storage-led renewable market. The company has been expanding its portfolio through investments in hybrid renewable projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and green hydrogen as strategic priorities. It currently has an installed portfolio of approximately seven point two gigawatt peak (GWp) and two point nine gigawatt-hour (GWh) of BESS across solar and wind developments. Srivatsan Iyer, Global Chief Executive Officer of Hero Future Energies, said that the project reflects the company's focus on developing solutions that combine reliability, affordability and sustainability and support India's net-zero ambitions. The company is increasingly prioritising hybrid generation, FDRE projects and storage-based solutions aimed at improving renewable power reliability and grid responsiveness.
