JSW Energy Adds 1,081 MW in Q1 FY27, Targets 30 GW by 2030

JSW Energy commissioned 1,081 megawatts (MW) of renewable capacity in the first quarter of fiscal year twenty seven, taking its total installed power generation capacity to 14,535 MW, the company said in a regulatory filing. The newly added capacity comprises 442 MW of solar, 108 MW of wind, 381 MW of hybrid and 150 MW of hydro projects, and renewable sources now account for 61 per cent of the total installed capacity.

The group's renewable portfolio comprises 3,764 MW of wind, 2,500 MW of solar, 832 MW of hybrid and 1,781 MW of hydro assets, while its thermal portfolio stands at 5,658 MW. During the quarter the company also commissioned a wind blade manufacturing facility at Halol in Gujarat with an annual capacity of 450 blades, sufficient to support about 600 MW of wind installations per year. The facility is expected to strengthen domestic supply chains for project execution.

Total locked-in generation capacity stands at 32.1 gigawatts (GW), made up of 14.53 GW of operational capacity, 13 GW under construction and a further pipeline of four point six GW. The company noted it remains on track to achieve its fiscal year twenty seven target of adding three GW of renewable capacity, having commissioned roughly one-third of that target in the first quarter. Management views the progress as aligning with medium term expansion plans.

JSW Energy aims to reach 30 GW of power generation capacity and 40 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy storage by 2030 and has set a carbon neutrality goal for 2050. It currently has 29.6 GWh of locked-in energy storage, comprising 26.4 GWh from hydro pumped storage and three point two GWh from battery energy storage systems. The company is prioritising storage alongside generation to support grid integration of renewables.

With 13 GW under construction and a four point six GW pipeline, the company says its locked-in capacity of 32.1 GW makes the 30 GW by 2030 target achievable. Management continues to focus on commissioning and supply chain investments to meet its objectives.
