Saatvik Solar Industries Pvt Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited under the Odisha government to build a three point six gigawatt (GW) cell manufacturing facility at Gopalpur in Ganjam district, Odisha. The facility forms part of the company's planned Phase II expansion at its Gopalpur manufacturing hub. The project is intended to deepen domestic cell manufacturing capacity. In a press release the company said the proposed cell line was on track for ramp-up shortly and that an ALMM-II inspection was planned for September, bringing the facility closer to full commercialisation. The new line will complement ongoing works under Phase I at Gopalpur, where construction and equipment installation have advanced. Tool installation was reported to be progressing and ramp-up was set to commence in the near term. Saatvik outlined planned capital expenditure of around Rs 17 bn in FY27 for cell expansion and a further Rs 18-20 bn in FY28 as it begins work on an ingot project. The company said Phase I had reached major construction and infrastructure milestones and was moving towards commissioning. A dedicated 220 kV substation was reported ready for charging and manufacturing lines were in the final stages of testing and validation. Management indicated that existing two point four gigawatt (GW) cell and four gigawatt (GW) module manufacturing lines were moving towards production, which would strengthen integration across the value chain. The planned Phase II three point six gigawatt (GW) expansion is intended to meet growing demand for domestically manufactured solar products and to scale the company's integrated manufacturing capabilities. The expansion was presented as a strategic step to enhance supply chain resilience. Saatvik described the Gopalpur programme as a long term effort to build an integrated, technologically advanced solar manufacturing ecosystem focused on scale and operational excellence. The company said the work would position it for future growth and support India's broader ambitions in clean energy manufacturing.
