SECI Floats Tender for 70 MW Solar Project With 25 MW/50 MWh Battery Storage

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has floated a tender for the development of a 70 Megawatt (MW) ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant integrated with a 25 MW/50 Megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) at Ramagiri in the Sri Sathya Sai District of Andhra Pradesh. The scope of works includes the complete design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the facility and its connection to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). This configuration is aimed at enhancing clean generation and supporting regional power flows.

The Notice Inviting Tender identifies the project as Package one: SOLAR+BESS and carries the reference SECI/C&P/OP/11/0002/26-27. Bidding documents will be available for online download from June six, 2026 through the Bharat Electronic Tender portal, the Central Public Procurement Portal and the SECI website. Interested bidders are required to complete online registration to obtain a unique Login ID and password from the Electronic Tender authorities before they may access and submit official responses.

The battery system is intended to store excess solar energy produced during peak sunshine hours and to dispatch energy when required, and it is expected to improve grid stability and renewable energy utilisation. Integration with the ISTS will enable efficient transmission across regions and support energy management at scale. SECI has made the downloading of tender documents through authorised portals mandatory for participation and has stipulated that only registered bidders will be eligible to prepare and upload bids.

The tender reflects SECI's continued push to expand renewable capacity and strengthen energy security as India moves towards a low-carbon power system. Combining solar generation with storage is presented as a means to improve utilisation of variable output and to provide operational flexibility. The use of multiple government-approved platforms for procurement is intended to broaden accessibility and promote transparency in the selection process.
