ELGi Inaugurates Vacuum Pump Assembly Line in Coimbatore

Elgi Equipments Limited has recently inaugurated a new vacuum pump assembly line at its headquarters in Coimbatore, marking a key milestone in the company’s expansion into the industrial vacuum solutions segment. The facility strengthens ELGi’s focus on manufacturing excellence, quality leadership and global competitiveness.
The new assembly line builds on ELGi’s multi-year technology licensing agreement with D.V.P. Vacuum Technology S.p.A., under which ELGi manufactures, assembles, tests and markets D.V.P.’s proprietary vacuum products in India. With vacuum technology seen as a natural adjacency to compressed air, the initiative supports ELGi’s strategy of building a future-ready portfolio of integrated air and vacuum solutions.
A recipient of the prestigious Deming Prize for Total Quality Management, ELGi has designed the facility in line with its TQM philosophy, enabling end-to-end control over quality and reliability. The assembly line allows the company to offer globally competitive vacuum products supported by a two-year warranty.
Dr Jairam Varadaraj, Managing Director, Elgi Equipments, said the new facility represents a significant step in building globally competitive industrial solutions from India, combining proven European technology with ELGi’s manufacturing discipline, service reach and quality culture.
Anvar Jay Varadaraj, Chief Operating Officer, Elgi Equipments, noted that rising demand across manufacturing, packaging, pharmaceuticals, electronics and process industries is driving steady growth in the global vacuum pump market. He added that the new line reinforces ELGi’s commitment to innovation, quality and sustainable growth.
The facility incorporates automated, sensor-driven assembly processes, comprehensive end-of-line testing and ergonomically designed 360-degree swivel assembly benches to ensure consistent build quality and performance. Local assembly also enhances customer support through faster response times, improved parts availability and ELGi’s extensive pan-India service network, delivering higher uptime and long-term reliability for customers across industries.
