AEPC Plans Global Expansion for Indian Apparel Exports in 2025-26

The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has unveiled plans to broaden the global footprint of Indian apparel in 2025-26 by diversifying into newer and non-traditional markets to boost exports. Despite geopolitical uncertainties, supply chain disruptions, and global headwinds, India’s apparel exports surged by 11.6% to approximately $13 billion during April-January 2024-25, AEPC Chairman Sudhir Sekhri stated. Sekhri highlighted that key government initiatives, including the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, the extension of RoSCTL (Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies), and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with the UAE and Australia, will play a crucial role in accelerating the sector’s growth.

AEPC Secretary General Mithileshwar Thakur noted that exports to key markets like the US and Europe continue to witness robust growth:

13.8% increase in the United States 8.9% rise in the United Kingdom 10.6% growth in Germany 19.7% jump in Spain

With strategic market expansion and government-backed initiatives, AEPC aims to position Indian apparel as a dominant player in the global textile trade, ensuring sustained growth and competitiveness in the coming years.
