Hindustan Zinc Programme Supports 47,000 Students

Hindustan Zinc has supported more than 47,000 students across rural Rajasthan since 2018 through its flagship Shiksha Sambal initiative. The programme covers 76 schools and provides year-round academic support with a focus on Science, Mathematics and English.

The company recently concluded its ninth summer camp, benefiting over 1,600 students through residential and non-residential formats. The camps offered exposure to STEM, digital technologies, innovation, arts, sports and co-curricular activities, supported by volunteers from institutions including the University of Delhi and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research.

Shiksha Sambal operates across six districts in Rajasthan: Ajmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Salumbar and Udaipur. The initiative combines academic mentoring with digital literacy, leadership development, career guidance and practical learning to improve confidence and future readiness among students.

The programme recorded strong FY26 academic outcomes, with supported students achieving a 92.53 per cent pass rate in Class 10 and a 99.43 per cent pass rate in Class 12 board examinations. Out of the 76 schools covered, 37 schools recorded 100 per cent board exam pass results.

Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company, said the initiative forms part of its broader community development work across education, skills, livelihoods, women empowerment, healthcare and environmental sustainability. The company’s social interventions cover more than 4,100 villages and impact over 2.6 million people.
