India Launches Nationwide Initiative to Boost Healthcare Access in Rural Areas

In a proactive move to address the healthcare needs of rural populations, the Government of India has introduced a comprehensive initiative titled 'Sehat Ghar Tak.' This groundbreaking program aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality in remote rural areas across the country, ensuring that even the most marginalised communities have access to essential medical services.

The 'Sehat Ghar Tak' initiative encompasses various components designed to strengthen rural healthcare infrastructure and services. It includes the establishment of telemedicine facilities, deployment of mobile health units, and augmentation of primary healthcare centres. Implementation Status of Jal Jeevan Mission

Since August 2019 the Government has implemented Jal Jeevan Mission to provide assured potable water through household tap connections in rural India. At the start of the mission only 32.3 million (mn) rural households, representing 16.7 per cent, were reported to have tap water connections.
