RVUNL Achieves Record Thermal Generation Of 7,171 MW

Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL) recorded its highest-ever thermal power generation, producing 7,171 megawatt (MW) from coal-based plants on two June, surpassing its previous peak of 6,833 MW on 31 January 2025. The output was delivered by 23 thermal generating units with a combined installed capacity of 7,580 MW, translating into a plant utilisation factor (PUF) of 94.6 per cent, the highest recorded by the state-run utility to date. The surge in generation reflects improved availability across the fleet of coal-fired stations.

The latest milestone exceeded the earlier record, which had been achieved using 22 units with a combined capacity of 7,330 MW and a utilisation rate of 93.22 per cent. Officials attributed the gain to sustained efforts to address technical deficiencies, alongside systematic maintenance and operational upgrades aimed at improving efficiency and reliability. Enhanced coordination of unit operations and closer oversight of plant systems were cited as contributing factors.

State Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar said the achievement represented RVUNL's best performance since its formation and indicated stronger utilisation of the corporation's coal-based generation assets. The Chairman and Managing Director, Devendra Shringi, attributed the performance to coordinated operations and the continued efforts of engineers and plant personnel across the utility's thermal stations. The record output reinforces the corporation's role in meeting the state's electricity requirements during peak demand.

RVUNL plans to maintain the momentum through ongoing technical interventions and preventive maintenance to sustain high availability across units. Plant performance metrics such as megawatt output and PUF will remain central to operational planning and dispatch decisions. The utility reported that continued focus on equipment reliability and staff training will support stable supply and reduce unplanned outages.
