SCG is strengthening its focus on ASEAN as a key growth region by advancing industrial transformation, enhancing competitiveness and building resilient regional value chains. Thammasak Sethaudom, President and Chief Executive Officer, SCG, highlighted the need for industries to continuously develop capabilities, strengthen resilience and deepen regional cooperation to achieve sustainable long-term growth.
SCG views ASEAN as an important growth engine alongside China, supported by favourable demographics, trade connectivity and investment flows. With ASEAN’s GDP projected to grow by around 4.72 per cent, the region continues to expand its role in global industrial networks.
Each ASEAN economy contributes distinct strengths in manufacturing efficiency, innovation, talent development and policy support, creating opportunities for deeper integration. SCG also recognises China as a strategic partner and aims to enhance industrial cooperation to develop more efficient and interconnected regional value chains.
The company is implementing a phased strategy to strengthen competitiveness. In the short term, SCG is focusing on operational resilience through energy efficiency, clean energy adoption and supply chain stability. During 2026–2027, the company plans to expand ASEAN capabilities through Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and digital transformation initiatives.
Key initiatives include ethane flexibility development at Long Son Petrochemicals, potential petrochemical value chain cooperation in Thailand, and expansion of Green Products, Smart Value Products and High Value Added Products.
From 2026 onwards, SCG will focus on sustainable growth through clean energy, circular economy development and carbon reduction across the value chain under its “Inclusive Green Growth” framework, led by SCGC, SCGP and SCG Cleanergy.
SCG considers Robotics and AI as critical enablers for transforming industrial operations, supply chains and innovation systems. Alongside technology adoption, the company continues to emphasise human capability development through continuous upskilling and its “Organisation of Opportunities” approach.
SCG believes future industrial competitiveness will be driven by collaboration and connectivity. ASEAN and its partners, including China, have the potential to strengthen regional cooperation and build a resilient and sustainable industrial ecosystem amid evolving global economic conditions.
