Assam Power Distribution Company (APDCL) has signed an MoU with NCL India for the construction of a 1000 MW renewable power plant in the state. The MoU stipulates that the 1,000 MW solar power plant would be a joint venture project on a 49:51 ratio between APDCL and NLCIL to help meet the state’s rising power needs. The MoU was signed at Guwahati in the presence of the Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister, and the Union Minister for coal and mines, Pralhad Joshi, by the Managing Director of APDCL, Rakesh Kumar, and the Director of planning and projects for NLC India, K Mohan Reddy. Assam cabinet nod for Rs 190 cr power purchase subsidy

The Assam cabinet on Friday decided to extend a power purchase subsidy of Rs 1.90 billion to a state-owned utility to avoid a hike in tariff in the financial year 2022-23 and provide relief to consumers.

During the meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the cabinet gave its nod to the proposal to provide the subsidy to Assam Power Distribution Company (APDCL).

In a bid to boost power generation, it also approved the 24-MW Karbi Langpi Middle II Hydro Project at Rs 3 billion, state Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah told reporters after the meeting.

Assam witnesses 25 MW solar project to power APDCL grid

South Assam's district of Cachar recently witnessed the commissioning of a 25 MW solar power project that will feed power into the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) grid.
