Jindal Stainless To Invest Rs Nine Billion In Cold Rolling

Jindal Stainless will invest Rs nine billion (bn) to expand its cold rolling capacity to two point six seven million tonne (mn t) by FY28, the managing director said. The investment is part of a planned capacity augmentation programme aimed at strengthening the firm's downstream manufacturing capability. The company indicated the project will focus on enhancing output of flat stainless steel products for domestic and overseas markets.

The expansion will involve upgrades to rolling mills and auxiliary facilities while maintaining operational safety and environmental standards. Management stated the work will be carried out in phases to align with production schedules and supply chain readiness. The firm also signalled plans to optimise raw material sourcing and logistics to support higher throughput.

Company executives described the investment as aimed at securing capacity to meet evolving customer specifications and value added requirements. The initiative will improve yields and broaden the product mix without altering the core stainless steel manufacturing footprint. Capital expenditure for the programme will be financed from internal accruals and existing credit lines, management said.

The project aligns with broader industry moves to add downstream capacity and enhance product quality. Analysts view capacity additions as part of a structural upgrade in the stainless steel value chain that supports both construction and industrial demand. The company reaffirmed its delivery timetable to complete the capacity increase by FY28 and to integrate the new facilities into existing operations.

The company indicated the expansion will support employment in fabrication, maintenance and logistics while also enabling greater participation in global supply chains. It said investments in energy efficiency and waste management will accompany the capacity build up to meet regulatory and customer expectations. Management added that the firm will continue to focus on quality control and service delivery as production scales.
