Bharat Mala Connects 32 of 33 Telangana Districts With 5200 Km Highways

Union Minister and Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president G Kishan Reddy announced that 32 out of 33 districts in the state are now connected by national highways under the Bharat Mala project. This expansion has increased the total length of national highways in Telangana from 2,500 kilometres before 2014 to 5,200 kilometres at present.

Speaking at a press conference in Hyderabad, Reddy stated that the Union government has invested significantly in infrastructure to promote economic development. Nearly Rs one trillion is being spent on five major highway corridors within the state.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for road projects worth Rs 51.46 billion in Adilabad and Hyderabad on May 5. These projects form part of the broader national plan to enhance connectivity and reduce travel time across regions.

The government is also prioritising the expansion of the Hyderabad-Srisailam road and the six-lane widening of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway, both of which are key to managing increasing traffic volumes and improving regional logistics efficiency.
