NHAI Plants 114,557 Saplings Along Odisha Highways

The National Highways Authority of India, Odisha Region, has planted 114,557 saplings along various National Highway corridors across the state as part of its Mega Plantation Drive 2026. The effort advances the authority's target of planting 0.26 million (mn) saplings in Odisha during the 2026–27 financial year and the planted total represents about 0.115 mn. Launched under the Green Highways Initiative, the drive seeks to increase roadside green cover, improve air quality and strengthen climate resilience along major highway routes. The initiative also aims to enhance biodiversity and provide roadside shade while helping to reduce soil erosion and dust levels.
