NPP orders NHIDCL to prioritise Kohima-Jessami road construction

The National People's Party (NPP) in Phek district, Nagaland is urging the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) to prioritise construction on the Kohima-Jessami road.

The party highlighted the critical need for progress, particularly on the stretch between Chakhaba and Kikruma. This section serves as a vital link for Phek and several other districts in Nagaland. Despite awarding the project to M/s Ratna Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd. with a January 5th, 2024 deadline, there seems to be a lack of visible construction activity. The NPP unit is calling on the contractor to begin work immediately to avoid further delays.

Meanwhile, there's some positive movement on the Longnak-Mangkolemba road upgrade project in Mokokchung district, funded under NESIDS.

An earlier circular issued by ADC Mangkolemba, T Lankosen Tsanglao, in April 2024, addressed landowners along the road stretch from T.A Kubzar petrol pump to Mangko ward junction. The circular mandates the removal of structures and properties within the designated Right of Way (ROW) by May 5th, 2024. This is crucial to ensure the smooth progress of the road up gradation project.

The notice also emphasises the need to remove or relocate any government utilities like electric towers, poles, pipelines, or other structures that might hinder construction. Landowners and relevant authorities are urged to cooperate with these directives for the timely completion of the project.
