Shalaghat-Nauni Chowk project to begin in Himachal Pradesh in 2024

The Shimla-Mataur national highway, popularly known as NH-88, will soon feature four lanes on its most dangerous section from Shalghat near Shimla to Nauni Chowk (Bilaspur), which is anticipated to begin in February 2019.

After this four-lane project is finished, travel between Shimla and the lower Himachal districts of Solan, Mandi, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, and Una will be safer and quicker. This month, a thorough project report is probably going to be finished, and the work will probably be awarded by the end of August.

In principle, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved the road project from Shimla to Mataur, which will have four lanes and cost Rs 100 billion.

In a written response to a query posed by Sudhir Sharma, Congress Legislator and Bikram Singh, BJP MLA, Vikramaditya Singh, Public Works Minister revealed that the entire four-lane project from Shimla to Mataur had been divided into six packages. Shimla to Shalaghat stretch, Shalaghat to Nauni Chowk Bilaspur stretch, Bhager to Hamirpur stretch, Hamirpur bypass stretch from Cheelbahal to Bhangwar stretch, and Bhangwar to Kangra stretch are all included in package 1, package 2, package 3, package 4A, and package 4, respectively (5B).
