VMC Launches CM Green Road Scheme with Rs 47.84 Crore Project

The Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC) has officially kicked off the Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development Scheme (CM Grid Scheme) with a groundbreaking ceremony. Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari inaugurated the first phase of the project, which will revamp six key roads at a total cost of Rs 478.4 million.

The project includes the rejuvenation of major roads across Varanasi, such as the 610-meter stretch from Tilak Statue to Bharat Sevashram Sangh, to be upgraded at Rs 122.6 million, and a 241-meter road from Golghar crossing to LT College at Rs 43.3 million. Additional roads, including Ghanti Mill to Sigra Police Station, Sigra Crossing to Aurangabad, and Sundarpur to Munshi Park, will also be upgraded. These roads will be built to international standards, featuring underground utilities, footpaths, and streetlights. The work is expected to be completed within 18 months.

Plans for a second phase of development have already been submitted for approval.
