Ghaziabad-Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay section sets new record

Automatic Block Signalling (ABS) is a practical technique to boost the line capacity to run more trains on the existing High Density Routes of Indian Railways. Automatic Block signalling is being implemented by Indian Railways in a mission-mode. In 2022–2023, 268 Rkm will have ABS installed. As of December 31, 2022, ABS was available on 3,706 km of route across IR. Increased capacity brought on by the automatic signalling deployment will allow for more train services.

To benefit from digital technology in train operation and to improve safety, electronic interlocking is being deployed widely. 347 stations received electronic interlocking systems in 2022–2023. 2,888 stations have already received electronic interlocking, which will cover 45.5% of IR through December 31, 2022.

The Ghaziabad-Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay section, which is 762 km long, recently underwent full automation with the commissioning of an automatic signalling system in the Prayagraj Division's Sath Naraini- Rundhi- Faizullapur Station section. This section is now the longest automatic block signalling section in Indian Railways.
