Gujarat Sets Up Unified Transport Body For Ahmedabad, Surat

The Gujarat government has created a Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTA) to streamline and develop public transport systems across Ahmedabad and Surat. Formed through a recent government resolution, the authority answers Central directives urging specialised bodies to manage integrated urban mobility in fast growing metro regions.

Fragmented planning and the rising complexity of city growth have highlighted the need for a single coordinating agency. UMTA will consolidate all transport related functions—ranging from project proposals and strategy execution to policy oversight, demand management and inter agency liaison—under one roof.

Chaired by the state’s Chief Secretary, the authority will include senior IAS and non IAS officials, ensuring high level guidance and swift decision making. By unifying efforts, the state aims to support daily commuting, foster sustainable development and underpin continued economic progress in both metropolitan areas.

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation has awarded the first construction-related consultancy contract for the Lucknow Metro East West Corridor to a joint venture of AYESA Ingenieria Arquitectura SAU and AYESA India Pvt Ltd. The firm was declared the lowest bidder for the Detailed Design Consultant contract for Lucknow Metro Line-2 under Phase 1B and the contract was recommended following the financial bid. Interarch Reports Strong Q3 And Nine Month Results

Interarch Building Solutions Limited reported unaudited results for the third quarter and nine months ended 31 December 2025, recording strong revenue growth driven by execution and a robust order book.
