Jaipur Development Authority Begins DPR For Dravyavati Elevated Corridor

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has initiated preparation of a detailed project report for a proposed elevated corridor aligned with the Dravyavati River, signalling the start of formal technical planning for a major urban transport link in Jaipur. The authority has engaged consultants to evaluate engineering feasibility and to develop a comprehensive blueprint that will guide design, execution and subsequent implementation phases.

The consultancy brief directs an integrated assessment that balances engineering efficiency with environmental sustainability and hydraulic resilience of the river corridor. Tender documents indicate that the study will examine environmental impacts, river flow characteristics, flood risk and water management, alongside road safety requirements, in order to recommend the most suitable alignment, structural form and mitigation measures for the proposed route.

The elevated corridor is intended to act as an alternative high-capacity link to relieve congestion on several major arterial roads as urbanisation and travel demand increase across residential and commercial zones. Planners consider the corridor capable of improving travel efficiency by enabling uninterrupted movement for commuters and by reducing pressure on existing surface streets, while seeking to minimise land acquisition in densely populated stretches.

The DPR scope covers detailed engineering surveys, traffic assessments, geotechnical investigations and structural design, together with preparation of construction methodologies, implementation schedules and cost estimates to inform financial viability assessments. Environmental safeguards, drainage planning and flood management measures form an integral part of the brief so that the river ecosystem and downstream hydraulic behaviour are not compromised during and after construction.

Road safety provisions will be examined in detail, including geometric design standards, junction planning, access control, pedestrian provisions and emergency response arrangements to comply with national urban road guidelines.
