Madurai Metro Extension: HC Leaves Decision to Govt

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has closed a petition seeking the extension of the Madurai Metro Rail project to Melur, stating that the decision falls under the government's policy framework.

The court was hearing a petition filed by advocate B. Stalin from Melur, who argued that authorities had overlooked the importance of the Othakadai-Melur region. A division bench clarified that the government is free to consider the representation but did not issue any directive.

The metro extension remains uncertain, with the decision now resting with policymakers.
