Platform Screen Doors will be fitted at platform edges to prevent access to tracks while allowing aligned boarding. Technical planning covers stations under construction and designs for retrofitting at operational stations.\n\nCentral and state governments have approved installation at 14 stations where construction is already under way, and the state has cleared the broader project pending final central endorsement. BMRCL has indicated that retrofitting active stations will be more complex, requiring work outside service hours and careful coordination with operations teams. Nighttime installation windows and phased sequencing are being planned to minimise passenger inconvenience and to maintain daily service reliability. The authority is also preparing logistical arrangements for materials, contractor access and safety protocols during work periods.\n\nOfficials expect the programme to reduce incidents on tracks and the consequent service stoppages that affect thousands of passengers each day.
