Odisha’s Bargarh Road-Nuapada Railway Project Making Rapid Progress

Indian Railways is advancing its infrastructure expansion in Odisha with the construction of a new 138.32 km railway line connecting Bargarh Road to Nuapada Road. This project is set to improve regional connectivity, facilitate faster passenger and freight movement, and boost local development.

Sanctioned by the Railway Board on September 10, the project is valued at Rs 2621.92 crore, with investments in civil engineering, electrical engineering, and signal & telecom engineering. The Odisha state government has provided full support, offering free land and a grant of Rs 300 crore.

Land acquisition for the project is proceeding smoothly, with 924.64 hectares required, including private, government, and forest land. New stations will be built along the line, enhancing accessibility in the region.

The electrified broad gauge line will bypass the congested Jharsuguda-Bilaspur-Raipur route, reducing travel distances by up to 87 km.
