Railway rejects bids for station redevelopment work

The railways has cancelled tenders for the redevelopment of the New Delhi and Ahmedabad train stations because the bids received were "excessively" high in comparison to the cost projected by the national transporter.

Because the lowest bidders quoted rates far in excess of the estimated costs, the railway was left with no choice but to discharge the tenders and review them.

The Union Cabinet approved Rs 100 billion in September 2022 for the rebuilding of three major railway stations: New Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).
